ANNA J — 162' Oceanco Superyacht for Sale
ANNA J is a 162' (49.4m) Oceanco superyacht with a remarkable origin story: she was the first Oceanco yacht built entirely in Europe, constructed after the Dutch yard acquired the Euroship facility in Holland and transformed an unfinished aluminum hull into a high-performance superyacht. Originally launched as Applause in 1994/95, the yacht was designed by Richard Hein, who also served as Oceanco's president, and was built for speed from the start. Her all-aluminum construction, twin MTU 16V396 TE94 engines producing 3,000 hp each, and custom LIPS five-bladed propellers deliver a 23-knot top speed with a shallow 7.5-foot (2.3m) draft that opens up cruising grounds many 50-meter yachts simply cannot access, including the shallow-water anchorages of the Bahamas. Naval architect Richard Hein noted the vessel's exceptionally low noise and vibration levels at speed, a result of careful collaboration with LIPS and meticulous insulation during the build.
The current owner, a serial yachtsman, purchased ANNA J, relocated her to Holland, and embarked on a methodical 3+ year refit that addressed the vessel from masthead to keel. Dutch Shipyard Van Noorloos executed a 4-meter stern extension under the naval architecture oversight of Van Dorrestejn Design and ABS class, giving ANNA J a more balanced profile while keeping her strategically under the 50-meter and 500 GT thresholds. The extension created a versatile new aft platform ready for a next owner's interpretation as a beach club, dive center, or al fresco dining area. Every mechanical system was serviced, rebuilt, or replaced; the twin MTU main engines received a comprehensive W5-Plus overhaul and now have fewer than 25 hours since rebuild. Four new Sea Gyro zero-speed gyroscopic stabilizers were installed within the extension for comfort at anchor, complementing the existing Naiad fin stabilizers for underway use. The full hull was repainted, the communications mast replaced, and a complete 5-year ABS survey has been finished.
ANNA J accommodates 12 guests across six staterooms with a crew of 10. The main deck owner's suite is located forward and features a king bed, a marble en suite with a jacuzzi, and his-and-hers sinks. Two spacious VIP cabins feature large double beds with jacuzzi-equipped en suites. The interior, styled in a minimalist Manhattan-inspired aesthetic by The A Group, has a fresh, contemporary feel, though the galley and crew areas are candidly noted as areas where a new owner can add their stamp. That transparency is part of the value proposition: the expensive, time-consuming mechanical and structural work has been completed to a high standard, and the remaining cosmetic upgrades are straightforward by comparison. Currently lying in the Netherlands and ready for delivery, ANNA J offers Oceanco pedigree, genuine performance, and proven bluewater capability at a price point that is difficult to match in the 50-meter class.
ANNA J is currently located in Netherlands.
