DB9 Yacht Charter | 52m Palmer Johnson Sport Yacht

DB9 is a 52-metre (172-foot) Palmer Johnson sport yacht that does something most yachts in her size range cannot: cover real distance at 20-plus knots and still feel like a private beach club the moment she stops. Her metallic grey aluminium hull, drawn by Nuvolari & Lenard, was the first of the PJ170 series, and more than a decade on it still turns heads in every harbour she enters.

Accommodation for 12 guests

Five staterooms sleep up to 12 guests. The full-beam owner's suite sits on the main deck with a king bed, walk-in wardrobe, generous en-suite and its own private stairway. Below, two queen VIP cabins and two twin cabins with Pullman berths, all en-suite, handle families and mixed groups without anyone drawing the short straw. Nuvolari & Lenard kept the interior deliberately calm: clean lines, soft textures and a contemporary palette that stays out of the way of the view.

Outdoor living across three decks

The foredeck is the party piece. A large swimming pool, roughly eight metres long, sits forward of the main saloon, surrounded by sunpads and loungers. Aft on the main deck there is an infinity-edge Jacuzzi that opens straight onto the water, and a second Jacuzzi sits forward on the sun deck. The sun deck itself runs long and mostly open, with a bar, barbecue and an open-air cinema screen for evenings at anchor. A partial hardtop gives shade when the sun gets serious.

Performance and range

Twin MTU 16V 4000 series diesels drive a semi-displacement aluminium hull. DB9 cruises comfortably in the low 20s and tops out around 30 knots, with roughly 4,000 nautical miles of range at economical speed. In practice that means a group can clear a 100-mile hop between a late breakfast and a swim stop, rather than losing a full charter day to the passage. Zero-speed stabilisers then keep the decks level once she settles at anchor.

Water toys and tenders

A 6.4-metre Castoldi jet tender handles beach drops and waterskiing. The toy locker also carries jet skis, SeaBobs, an e-foil, paddleboards, inflatable kayaks, wakeboards, waterskis, kneeboards and towables. High-speed Wi-Fi covers guests who cannot quite unplug.

Crew and service

A crew of 11 runs DB9, led by a captain and chef who know how to build a week around what guests actually want rather than a fixed itinerary. Service is attentive without hovering.
