Built in 2014 by Italian shipyard Overmarine for an experienced yacht owner, the 49.9 metre Mangusta 165E open superyacht Moonraker boasts exterior designs by Stefano Righini, with the shipyard undertaking the naval architecture and interior designs in house. Moonraker is the 8th Mangusta 165, but she is the first in the yard’s new E series, which stands for Evolution.
The bespoke yacht’s interior is both tasteful and stylish, and boasts over 250 textures and fine materials, including exquisite stone, valuable woods, mother of pearl & luxurious leathers, which include Aston Martin leather chairs. Adding a unique flair to the sophisticated surroundings, well-appointed artwork can be seen throughout the vessel over all deck. She accommodates up to eight guests over four luxurious cabins, including one master suite, one VIP cabin and two double cabins, all of which are found on the lower deck of the vessel.
Both double guest cabins provide guests with a relaxed and spacious area in which to unwind, and is complete with a queen size bed in each. The VIP cabin comes with an oversized queen bed, and the entire area is decorated in a subtle, peaceful colour scheme of beiges and creams. The block colour is broken up with an abstract piece of art hanging above the bed.
The commodious full beam master suite features an impressive ceiling height of 2.35 metres, providing the area with an extremely spacious feel that is made welcoming by the homely polished wood floors and warm, neutral colour scheme. This room contains His & Hers closets and a separate dressing area, allowing guests both space and privacy on board. The ensuite bathroom is particularly opulent, with a large bathtub and rainfall aromatherapy shower.
A cinema room and gym is also found on the lower deck. The cinema features a 65” TV and secret ‘candy drawers’ for an authentic movie theatre experience. Extending the sense of sociability that is found in the seating arrangement around the dining table, the seating area for the cinema room comes in the form of an extra deep wall-to-wall plush sofa, that can also conveniently be made up to accommodate a single guest. Two large leather arm chairs are also provided.
Elsewhere on the lower deck, the state-of-the-art gym includes a Hammam/steam shower and ensuite facilities. The main salon also features a relatively neutral colour scheme, but with darker notes throughout demonstrated in leather furniture and decorations such as cushions and blankets. The dining area seats up to ten guests in a sociable yet refined ambiance, with seating around the table including two 2-seater leather benches. This allows for a more intimate dining experience with friends and family whilst the design of the area – surrounded by expertly chosen fine wines in the centre of a large space in the yacht – retains the sophisticated atmosphere attributed to fine dining.
One of the most notable aspects of the main saloon is the magnificent bar, which seats up to five guests on high swivel stools. The bar is the ideal place for entertainment and socialising, with a huge drop down TV, built-in fridges to chill a variety of cocktail & beer glasses and a pop-up liquor cabinet.
The whole salon area is encompassed by oversized windows, larger than on older Mangusta 165’s, on either side of the room as well as the cleverly situated skylights in the high ceiling over the dining table. The windows work to bathe the area in natural light and provide guests with spectacular ocean views whenever desired. A full size cabinet humidor, wine cooler & wine cabinets holding almost 100 bottles of fine wine.
On the main deck aft, another lounging area is found with ample, comfortable seating and an optional awning. An additional dining area is separated from the seating areas by a substantial cabinet housing two 55″ back-to-back pop-up TVs, ideal for guests to enjoy sports or movies in style. The dining table in this area is in a chic, square design and offers seating for 9 with luxurious white leather armchairs.
On the main deck forward, a Jacuzzi surrounded by large Nikki Beach-style sunpads on 3 sides creates a relaxed atmosphere well suited to sunbathing, relaxing and making the most of the sun. Another two back-to back pop-up TV’s are also found in this area, as well as a third separate dining area for up to eight guests. Optional awnings mean that guests can either choose to experience their al fresco dining in the shade or, at night time, enjoy the experience of a unobstructed nightsky view. The foredeck features an extra large sunpad area for sunbathing and relaxing, adding yet another area for guests to enjoy company or find privacy. Concluding the exceptional outdoor areas is a stylish flybridge with a classy bar area and trendy modular seating with large center chaise. A large BBQ is also featured as well as more optional awning.
In addition to a wealth of amenities on board, one of the key aspects of Moonraker which make her such an ideal yacht is her exceptionally wide range of water toys available to her guests. These include a 6.4 metre Castoldi jet tender with Yanmar engine 258hp; 2 x Yamaha wave runner VX cruiser 1052cc, 2 x SeaBob F7; slide inflatable water toy; water skis; Fold out diving board; snorkeling equipment; stand up paddle boards and 4 Blade Fish Sea-Scooters.
