RAINBOW is a stylish 25.5m luxury yacht, built by Princess and delivered in 2013. The Princess 82 is a thoughtful combination of space planning, advanced construction and a careful selection of interior furnishings.
The main deck feels very spacious with oversized windows on each side. All the furniture is kept low to maximize the view, though there are abundant storage compartments underneath almost every piece you see. The other reason the vessel feels spacious is the use of advanced technologies.
While most builders are using a resin infusion to construct hulls, Princess has perfected the push-pull infusion system that creates an exceptionally strong hull, which in turn allows the builder to reduce the size of the support structure and framing. The result is more usable interior volume.
The Princess 82 is a fine example of British craftmanship perfectly honed for American tastes while retaining European flair. One example of this fine-tuning is the galley. Designer Bernard Olesinski created a hybrid arrangement where the galley is separated from the dining area in the salon but open forward to dinette opposite the lower helm. This clever arrangement allows formal dining in the salon while offering a country galley, which is popular with Americans.
The 82 is designed for entertaining with full-sized walk-behind bars on the aft deck and on the fly bridge, where the bar doubles as an outdoor kitchen complete with a grill and fridge. Her cockpit has a curving settee for outside dining, as does the bridge, which also sports a large sunpad.
Like the main deck, big windows are on each side of the master suite and VIP stateroom and the guest cabins have oversized ports to make the spaces feel spacious and airy.
RAINBOW can be run with or without crew and when run without crew, the twin bunk crew quarters make an ideal teenager getaway. The crew space is separated from the guest areas by the engine room.
