Monaco Yacht Show A Success
It’s a bit of an irony that one of the world’s smallest nations holds the world’s largest megayacht show, an irony which was not lost on the 33,000 people who flocked to this year’s Monaco Yacht Show to see the fabulous array of some of the finest megayachts for sale today.
The Monaco Yacht Show was first held in 1991 and has become a focal point for the international elite in the time since. This year’s edition featured some 40 new launches with the glittering Monte Carlo acting as a backdrop.
It differed to previous years in that an awards ceremony was held at the beginning. In addition, there were some 500 exhibitors present this year, ranging from megayacht builders to nautical suppliers and everything in-between.
This year’s edition was held between September 24th and 27th and featured 115 megayachts between 25 and 100 meters in length on the quaysides of Port Hercules.
Moran Yacht & Ship’s line-up this year was fantastic – we presented numerous yachts both in the show and at anchor. We were present at the Quai Des Etat-Unis with the 152 Ft. (46.3m) ALLEGRIA, at the Quai de l’Hirondelle with 146 Ft. (44.7m) BELUGA and at T Central with the 130 Ft. (39.7m) APOSTROPHE and the 110 Ft. (33.6m) SAGAMAR.
SAGAMAR, ALLEGRIA and APOSTROPHE are all built by Dutch megayacht builder Hakvoort. They were completed in 2002, 2004 and 2013 respectively. BELUGA is a Timmerman build, which was completed earlier this year. All are individually luxurious and intriguing in their own right.
From Moran Yacht & Ship’s perspective, the show was a great success in terms of meeting new clients and strengthening our relationship with our current clients. The megayachts we had on display generated much interest and we expect promising results from the show.
We are seeing a resurgence in interest from the traditional European and North American markets, whereas there has been a continued growth of interest from emerging Asian markets.
We have continued to expand our presence at the show over the years and expect next year to be an even greater display of quality yachts available for sale and charter.
